Data Management and Deletion

TanSmarter gives you clear control over your account data. This page explains how to request account deletion, what data may be retained temporarily for legal or operational reasons, and how long requests typically take to process.

Requesting Account Deletion

To request deletion of your account and associated personal data:

  1. Send an email to support@tansmarter.com from the email address connected to your account.
  2. Use a clear subject line such as Delete my account.
  3. Include your full name and any additional details that help us verify account ownership.

For account security, we may ask for minimal follow-up information to confirm identity before we process deletion.

What We Delete

When a deletion request is completed, we remove or anonymize personal account information connected to your profile, including:

  • Account profile details
  • Session history and user-generated records tied to your identity
  • Preferences associated with the deleted account, including reminder preferences
  • Push notification tokens tied to your account
  • Optional reminder location and timezone stored for your account
  • Notification event logs tied to your account
  • Manual location choices and geocoding cache data stored locally on your device
  • Local scheduled notifications and local entry attribution used to understand how you opened a session flow
  • Analytics identity links associated with the local app session, where supported by our analytics provider

Delete-data and account deletion clear push tokens, reminder preferences, reminder location, timezone, notification event logs, and local scheduled notifications tied to your account where applicable. Signing out clears local scheduled notifications on your device and asks the server to clear the signed-in user's push token, but it does not delete your account history.

What May Be Retained Temporarily

Certain information may be retained for a limited period when required to:

  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Prevent abuse, fraud, or repeated policy violations
  • Maintain short-term operational backups

Any retained data is restricted, handled securely, and removed when retention is no longer required.

Optional reminders may use short-lived weather snapshots so TanSmarter can decide whether a reminder should be sent. Weather snapshots expire automatically, and stale snapshots are purged after 24 hours. Notification event logs are retained for 90 days, then purged. Reminder location becomes stale after 7 days without refresh and is cleared when reminders are disabled, delete-data runs, or account deletion runs.

Processing Timeline

We aim to process verified deletion requests promptly. In most cases, requests are completed within a reasonable operational window after identity verification. Complex requests or legal constraints can require additional time.
